How to Use

If you have any trouble using the app, are confused about anything, or simply need some clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you tell us about your problem, you can not only get help from our team personally, but you will also be helping others by making our product better for everyone!

Note that you don’t have to use your particular information in the calculation; you can use the Pregnancy Chance Calculator app to test hypothetical scenarios as well as real ones; we are just trying to give people an easier way to understand the statistics and science regarding contraceptive methods and conception 🙂

Using the current app can be broken down into 5 easy steps:

Choose a Contraceptive Method (if applicable)

Under the heading “What contraceptive did you use (if any)?” simply use either the drop down menu (android) or scrolling menu (iOS) to select the contraceptive you would like the include in your estimation.

How Many Times Did You Have Intercourse?

Under the heading “How many times did you have intercourse using this method?”, enter the amount of times you had intercourse using the particular selected contraceptive method.

What Was The Female Participant's Age (Optional)?

Using the slider to indicate your age is optional, but if you use it, it will improve the quality of the Pregnancy Chance Calculator app’s estimates greatly.

Contraceptive Method Use Quality (Optional)

Did the condom ever break? Did you ever forget to take a pill when you were meant to? Did your partner ever mess up the “pull-out method”? Occurrences like these indicate that the contraceptive method use was not “perfect”.

Press Calculate!

Now you’ve entered all the required information, simply press the Calculate button! The Pregnancy Chance Calculator app will quickly calculate an estimate for your situation. Note that this estimate only applies to the instances of intercourse that you have input into the Pregnancy Chance Calculator app.

Your Results (and an example)

If you didn’t really pay attention in math class, the results can be a bit difficult to understand. Here’s an example:

If the Pregnancy Chance Calculator app says your chance of conception is about 5 in 34, this means that if you had a room of 34 women who:

  • were the same age as you
  • all used the same contraceptive (if any) as you
  • used this method perfectly (or not, if you didn’t)
  • and had sex using this method the same amount of times as you
Chances are, according to what specialist scientists currently understand about contraception and conception, about 5 of these women would be pregnant (assuming the calculation was done for recent events).

Again, if you’re having any trouble with understanding or using the Pregnancy Chance Calculator app, please don’t hesitate to contact us 🙂
